Levi Sherwood Wins the First Stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters 2014 Tour in Mexico City

New Zealand rider takes top spot in front of sell out crowd in Mexico City.

Levi Sherwood kicked the 2014 Red Bull X-Fighers tour off in style as he took a big victory in Mexico City. The Mexican capital has hosted the curtain raiser for the world’s premiere freestyle motocross competition seven times since the tour began in 2005 and 38,000 screaming fans were at the Monumental Plaza de Toros to watch the world’s best thrown down in incredible style.

The final was close but Levi Sherwood was named champion ahead of Josh Sheehan of Australia and Dany Torres of Spain thanks to his perfectly executed Kiss of Death backflip and Turntable. Torres was one a crowds favourite as ever and Sheehan actually beat Sherwood in two of the five judging categories. Both will be keen to improve on their podium position when the tour resumes in Osaka on May 25th.
