Lindsey Jacobellis: A new career?

Apologies to those of you that have already seen this but I’ve only just gotten my eyes on it and I have to write about it!

Lindsey Jacobellis: Queen of the ultimate Olympic fail as she thought that performing a backside method on the second to last jump would be a good idea. It wasn’t. She fell and watched the second placed rider zoom past you to grab the gold that you’d had in your grasp for the last minute. Not only that but your friends, family and coach all stand at the bottom of the run shocked and disappointed at what you’ve just done. Torino was an unhappy place for her.
To refresh the memory of those who don’t recall this event…

So yes. That is the one and only Lindsey Jacobellis. She is legendary for all the wrong reasons and I’d like to say that things got better for her in the next Winter Olympics in Vancouver but I just can’t. After winning a few gold medals in the Winter X Games in the years leading up to Vancouver 2010, no one would blame her for being confident in the women’s snowboarder cross. Unfortunately she was disqualified in the semi finals for clipping the edge of the inside half of the gate on a left-hand bank. No gold for her.

So where do you go from there? You’ve been so close to winning Olympic Gold at the age of 21, so close to another Winter Olympics final in 2010 but have nothing to show for it. There’s only one thing you can do after that – make a music video. But not any old music video. Make a really poor one. There’s a lot of awful music out in the world these days but we definitely didn’t need another one to add to the list. Let me know what you think but don’t be expecting anything good. I can’t get the 2 minutes of my life back and feel like spreading the unfortunate event.

I might be being too harsh but I don’t think so.
