Looking For The Best Wave To Surf On The Planet? Pro Eddie Kelly May Have Found It

Three kilometer long waves, and 20 second barrels...

What does the perfect surfing spot have? How about a beach break that creates waves that can stretch as far as two to three kilometres? A ride where you can get barreled for a full, brain-defying 20 seconds?

It may sounds like something from an advert for mineral water, or a questionable film staring your fella from The Matrix, but the break in question is Snapper Rocks, on the Gold Coast of Australia.

It’s the home break of pro surfer Eddie Kelly, and in this new GoPro video, he takes you for a ride on what appears to be a near perfect day.

If, like us, you’re a full two hours from your nearest break, and are looking on with envy, then fear not. Those Gold Coat Aussies haven’t quite got it all. They may be enjoying surfing Nirvana, along with year-round barbecue weather, and consistent sporting success, but the word on Snapper Rocks is out. Really out.

You may get there on a good day and catch a perfect wave, but so are a zillion other people. If you want to get in the longest shack imaginable, you’ve got to battle through the human soup first. It’s busier than the queue in Abra-kebabra after chucking out time on a bank holiday.
