Montec Bib Overviews | What You Need To Know

Need some new bib pants? The good folks at Montec have got you covered

It began with two brothers back in 2006. These two brothers, who we’ll call Emil and Linus (because that’s their names), had some difficulties finding quality gear that they wanted to hit the slopes in. A small project kicked into life, one which simply involved importing gear that was previously unavailable in Sweden  to satisfy the needs of a small group of friends. This operation, however, quickly escalated into something more; something, dare we say, special.

Ridestore has always been about the customers, creativity, and fostering a sense of community. The business can trace its beginnings back to a ‘taking care of friends first and foremost’ approach and so, with that in mind, it’s nice to see that sense of caring for snow sport enthusiasts is still evident in their work. Customers equal mates, and mates look after each other. All getting a bit dusty in here, isn’t it?

Anyway, one thing led to another and Montec came into existence; a brand that shredders and rippers swear by. Here’s what you need to know about their bib offering.

Fawk

Look up all-mountain predator in the dictionary and, chances are, you won’t see this item. You’ll see some sort of snow leopard or something, one of David Attenborough’s lot. What you should really see though, and would see if we were in charge of the books, is The Fawk. With its class-leading technical prowess and uncompromising design, this bib looks at all kinds of conditions and says “Yes. I will excel in these.”

“Built from the ground up to be comfortable, reliable, and ready for whatever the backcountry throws at you”

Built from the ground up to be comfortable, reliable, and ready for whatever the backcountry throws at you (it will also, of course, do a job for you in the resort). That tall, slightly-cinched, upper creates the perfect powder barrier while the baggier fit lower down provides more space, and ultimately greater comfort, for those long riding days. Want lots of external storage and an easily-adjusted suspender system? You’re in luck. It’s got these features too.

All Mountain

Utilising Montec’s highest performance materials and design, this piece of kit provides maximum environmental protection. It’s been designed for riding the biggest lines and the deepest powder. A cliche as old as time, sure, but this collection will do a job for you no matter what the conditions are serving up.

Insulated / Shell Option

This pant comes with two insulation choices depending on your riding style. The ‘Insulated’ option comes with 40g insulation for an excellent warmth to weight ratio, while the ‘Lined Shell’ option is insulation-free to keep you light on your feet and the layering power, well and truly, in your hands.

Arch

If these pants were a sound, it’d be that unique sound you make when getting into bed after a long drive. This product is incredibly comfortable and roomy in a way that delivers a generally pleasant feeling to the lower half of your body. Despite the fact we’ve made them sound ever so slightly like they’re pyjamas, the Arch pants are actually designed for tearing up the mountain like an absolute boss. Armed with tech specs, and a construction that’s both lightweight and durable, you’ll love rocking these when the big mountains are calling. They’re made for long days on the snow, and a lifestyle that’s all about the hard-hits. They have an ergonomic cut that maximises mobility.

Want to push your shredding to the next level? Need a bib that can do it all? The Arch is worthy of your consideration. There’s waterproof external storage, an easy-adjust suspender design and side-entry for true utility. The Arch is a made for tough cookies who  need their gear to stand up and deliver in the face of some serious riding.

All Mountain

Utilising Montec’s highest performance materials and design, this item provides max environmental protection. Because of the way it’s been put together, you’ll be able to ride the biggest lines and the deepest powder in this product (disclaimer: they’re not magic, they won’t make you good at skiing / snowboarding).

Shell

No insulation here, meaning the garment is light and versatile. Layer up to your preference.
