Nico Vink Gambles on One of the Scariest MTB Lines Ever at Red Bull Rampage

This rider has definitely got a screw lose... and this mountain bike line proves it

The 10th edition of the freeriding frenzy that is Red Bull Rampage gets underway on October 17, and we’re getting uncontrollably excited for one of the hottest dates on the mountain biking calendar.

One man who will be even more stoked than us for the weekend will be Nico Vink, though. The Belgian over-shot a step down and bailed out at Rampage 2014, but he’s now eyeing up one of the most ambitious lines in the history of the competition.

An insane run from Andreu Lacondeguy saw the Catalonian win Rampage 2014, but nobody even thought to build in the area that Vink is currently sculpting in last year. It’s steep, it’s scary, and if Nico is able to ride it, it could just be the winning line at Rampage ’15.

“I’m trying to find the possible in the impossible,” Vink told Red Bull. “It’s probably the gnarliest thing I have ever ridden or [even] tried.”

Lacondeguy has even commented on Vink’s dig, saying “it’s sick to see how someone can turn something that you don’t think is going to work into something that actually works.”

After watching Vink breaking in his Red Bull Rampage bike in Belgium, custom-made by SCOTT for the occasion, we certainly have no doubt about Nico’s abilities. The lines he cruises through in the video are insane.

Whether this is one step too far, only time will tell, but it’s certainly only got us even more excited for 17 October.
