Night Skiing With Leo Taillefer Is A Strong Contender For GoPro Line of The Winter

Is the footy from your ski trip a contender for GoPro Line of The Winter?

It seems like only three days ago since we were frothing about a video dropped by French ski lunatic Léo Taillefer. This is because it was only three days ago.

But, not one to rest on his laurels, out boy Léo has been making the most of the unseasonal late snowfall across the French Alps, and it up the steeps of his home town of Val D’Isere to film one of the gnarliest lines we’ve seen in a long, long time.

The fact it’s filmed at night is nuts, but when you get into it, the nocturnal setting is just a bit of sexy window dressing compared to what comes next. Taillefer hoons down the hill, lit by ahead torch, through the narrowest of gullies and and couloire, with branchest reaching out of the night sky in a bid to grab him.

As the altitude drops, the snow gets scarcer, making things even tighter for our insane French hero. Rocks and bits of shrubbery start coming out of nowhere. We can only imagine that it’s like walking around the set of torture-porn flick Saw while blindfolded.

Léo shot the footage as his entry into the GoPro Line Of The Winter competition, where the winner walks away with a $20,000 (around £14,000) bounty. And if Léo Taillefer doesn’t win with this mighty effort, we’re looking forward to seeing what tops it.
