Shocking Footage Appears to Show Mountain Bikers Held Up at Gunpoint

...talk about a trail hazard

The video below has been doing the rounds on the internet recently, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s pretty freakin’ terrifying.

The footage, which is shot in low res, appears to show some downhill mountain bikers being held up at gunpoint while they’re out the Cerro Pan de Azucar, or Sugarloaf Mountain, in Medellin in Colombia.

We can only assume that if so, it may have been an angry landowner on the other end of the gun, as he didn’t demand that any of the bikes, presumably worth thousands of pounds, were handed over, and so it doesn’t seem to be any kind of robbery.

It’s not the first incident we’ve seen at gunpoint involving a mountain bike. In 2014 a man was robbed of his mountain bike at gunpoint and filmed it all on GoPro, and thankfully these guys were able to get away both with their bikes, and unharmed.

We’re not sure why the rider with the camera throws his bike into the greenery on his right, but again we can only assume that the man with the barrels was saying something along the lines of “get rides of those rides right now”.

Anyway, since we’re on the subject of speculation, here’s how we reckon the conversation went when one of the riders involved, who we’ve named Arnold, got back to meet his mate Tobias in the bar earlier. Checkout the video below:

“Hey Tobias? You know what are the worst? Trail hazards. Trail hazards are the worst, Tobias.”

“Aren’t they just, Arnold! I had lost precious seconds on the Strava run of a lifetime today after I had to whizz past some beginners halfway down the trail. Nightmare.”

“Yeah, Tobias, that sure does sound like a rough day. Did I mention that me and the boys got held up at gunpoint while we were out riding earlier? And that you still haven’t bought your round?”

“Oh …I didn’t know… Shit… You’re okay, right Arnold?”

“I’d be a whole lot better if you topped up my beer and stopped whining about Strava, Tobias. Did I ever tell you that you’re a bit of a dickhead?”
