Turbo Kid Is Like Mad Max… But With More BMX, And Already Looks Set To Be The Cult Hit Of 2015

This classic tale of love, gore, and BMXs has already scored big with Sundance and SXSW critics...

WARNING: THIS MOVIE CONTAINS GRAPHIC SCENES OF VIOLENCE. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED

Ever heard of the comic (or ‘graphic novel’, as the guy who hangs around in comic book shops but who’s name we can’t remember would insist on calling it) Turbo Kid? No, neither have we. In fact, we don’t know if it was ever a comic. Or maybe a video game? Nope. No idea.

What we do know, however, is that Turbo Kid is now a film. Not just any film. It’s a BMX heavy, gore fest, set in a post-apocolyptic world where it’s still 1997. Basically, Sheffield.

While it may sound a little B-movie and trashy, the film has been well received by critics (worryingly), doing well at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, and picking up a handful of both judges and audience awards at SXSW.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like it nestles somewhere between Mad Max, Blade Runner, and Scott Pilgrim… But, you know, with added BMXs. What’s not to like?

If you cant get enough BMX in films, our friends over at Ride UK have found the best BMX on the big screen in 2015.
