Badass Ukrainian Rider Takes on a Steelworks in Must Watch BMX Epic

...not all riding spots are born equal

Some would imagine that an upbringing in the biggest industrial region of central Ukraine would be one that would not contain that much opportunity for sport or creativity.

If BMX thrives anywhere though, it’s in the city environment and in the minds of those who use it to get more original and more innovative than many could in any other spot around the world.

Case and point? Ukranian BMXer Vasya Lukyanenko. He struggled to find skate parks or even many spots while he was growing up, but has overcome his setting by riding things as farfetched as satellite dishes at the Ukranian National Space Centre.

Vasya sees opportunity where most others would see none, and for his latest project? He’s taken on one of Ukraine’s biggest steelworks on his BMX. It makes for one hell of a watch.

“It’s raw, it’s dangerous, it’s unforgettable and you are the first BMX rider here,” the rider told Red Bull. “It feels like pioneering new lands and I’m glad to leave a footprint here.

“I love places like this. It’s rare than rare – it’s unique with all the fire, liquid steel, splashed; there’s nothing like it in the world.
