It’s been a strange morning in Vigevano because the city woke up with the screaming of few monkeys in adoration of the the “big stone” located in the middle of the funny Cookie Skatepark.
Their screaming starts to attract hundreds of other apes first from the neighbourhood, and then from all the other Italian cities. They all want to see what the Big Stone have to tell them and it began its story around 10 o’clock with these words :“I want all of you to take your board and rip this place off. Today is a big day, today is the Wild In The Parks day.”
It’s been the younger ones (14-) that started their own two qualifying heats. Great level, great tricks but after 5 minutes only they were stopped because of some rain coming down.
The rain kept falling for more or less an hour and half so all the monkeys decided to sit together under the trees at the fire of our bbq, ready for some good free sausages and drinks.
There will be time to skate during the day. And it was.
When the rain stopped to fall, in few minutes, just the time to dry part of the skatepark, the young monkeys started again their tricks making the three Judges (Jeb, Guli & Alessio) work hard to decide the finalists.
The same thing happened with the older ones, the 15 & over category. This was the most crowded division, there were three heats and the level was very high despite the cash price reserved for the Open division only. The judges worked hard because the jam sessions delivered tons of tricks everywhere, from the set of stairs to the fun box passing to the bank to bank frame, the same bank to bank who gave way to the down rail only for the Open that ruled the end of the day with the finals of the other two divisions. The thirst of the cash price made the Open monkeys literally shred the park.
Backside flip to frontside boardslide on the down rail, crail slide all along the box and some frontside smith grinds big spin out made the day through the price giving that saw Dylan Gaggini winning the 14 & under, Raffaele Pola winning the 15 & over and Guido Stazi becoming the King of the Bongo for the Open division. It’s been a great day, closing with our famous giveaways launch to all the skaters and people who reached us in Vigevano.
Now the monkeys don’t scream anymore because they’ve found their God… and He pushes.
A big thank to Burn for providing the energy we all needed and UV Control for protecting our skin.
Special thanks to our filmer Matteo “Teone” Terzoli, our photographer Alberto Bocca, our speaker Fumaz, Marchino and Damiano for the great job at the bbq, the girls, Davide and Emanuele (Cubalibre Surf Shop - via Trento 45 - Vigevano) for the support.
See you in Sevilla !!!
