After the MacAvalanche was cancelled I swapped my entry to another "No Fuss" event a blind Enduro while riding a grueling 30 mile XC Loop.
I've not had the van long and its not yet fully a camper, but this is just the sort of thing I knew would would an easier, cheaper and more enjoyable trip with a decent size van.
So up with Ben, and meeting up with Mark, Alastair & Ross up there - some serious riders Mark won the Elite class at National Gravity Enduro at Innerleithen last week (I was 71st Master). Riding with fast guys as a benchmark helps me to push and know where the true limit is .... Thanks for waiting for me on the transitions :)
Stage 1 isnt in the edit, it took me 12 mins, 4km basically flat, 1 up on boggy moorland, and 1 down on a wide track spinning out my top gear - one for the fit XC boys not great to watch - although is was over 50% of the timed stages.
Stage 2 was a short steep fresh cut descent. A real challenge to ride blind with no practise - easy to get caught out (and I did) and no clear line at times.
Stage 3 was my best, finished 3rd fastest master. Top half was slightly downhill, boggy in places moorland and then into a nice interesting wooded lower half. Only the lower half makes the edit.
Stage 4 was down the Dunkeld downhill track, really need to know where your going for this one, riding blind was hard work - although while resting from the transition did walk down the top 25% and watch some riders lines & offs.
