Bicycle designer, Ted James, a craftsman building bespoke frames by hand, discusses the new stainless steel tubing from Reynolds: the 921.

James discuss being asked by Reynolds to make test frames and show frames using the new material, and the uses to which the material can be put: anything from BMX to touring road bikes, in James' opinion.

"Its easier to work with than 953: it not so hard. It's easier on the cutters and the tooling. It's an amazingly springy material so I'll be really interested to see how the bike rides with this tubing. I think it will be a very lively feel."

James believes its weight will be similar to Reynolds 725, but with the advantage of corrosion resistance at a lower price than 953 and 931.

Check out this fascinating video and hear one of the country's most respected frame builders talk about a new tubing from a firm with a long-established reputation for quality.
