Arriving in Brazil looking to successfully defend his Hang Loose Pro title in Imbituba, Mick was also on the verge of claiming his maiden World Title win.
The world title chase started to unravel when Kelly Slater was defeated in Round 4 eliminating him from contention. The remaining World Title contender Taj Burrows was next to fall in the Quarter Finals and the rest is history.
