"Women in Snowboarding - Torah Bright" is the seventh video segment from a collection cut out of the 2009/10 Swatch TTR TV Show series. This part is the second segment giving you a taste of the 'Women in Snowboarding' TV show that focused on the development of women’s riding. Like the first part, this video features influential women in snowboarding as they discuss the female progression in a male dominated industry.
The pressure and the barriers are high for women to become and to stay professional snowboarders. This TV segment tells the story of the 23-year old Torah Bright (AUS), one of the most successful and well-known female riders out there, who incidentally took the Swatch TTR Tour Champion title in 2006/07 and has been paving the way for progression since she got on a board. Torah talks about her vision of the future for female snowboarding: 'We got a lot more to prove to ourselves and progress snowboarding'. The Australian rider is highly regarded in the snowboarding community, and top riders like Cheryl Maas (NED) praise her skills: 'Torah is the best and the sickest women halfpipe rider that I've known and seen. I like the way she progresses and she doesn’t stick to the same runs.' She adds 'The tricks she does are on a guys level.'
Torah Bright is without a doubt one of the most progressive female snowboarders in the world, both in halfpipe and slopestyle. She explains how she got into practicing the Double Crippler in the pipe and her brother Ben, who has been coaching her for years, confirms his vision of Torah’s future in the forefront of the development of the sport.
