Racing got underway early at the USGP as famous Go-kart facility Pole Position Raceway in Corona hosted a special Monster Energy race night last night, where the GP elite soundly thrashed their AMA counterparts during a night of relaxed tyre squealing action and taco eating.
With the Monster Yamaha team riders and Ken De Dycker in attendance as well as the Pro Circuit Kawasaki trio of Dean Wilson, Blake Baggett and Tyla Rattray, along with non-Monster usurper Zach Osborne, plenty of star power was on display on and off the karting track.
In the grudge match riders’ race the GP boys ruled supreme as Max Anstie took the top spot with the fastest time of the race, followed by Osborne and David Philippearts, beating the US guys nicely in the process. There were more bragging rights for the GP boys too as karting god Osborne set the fastest lap time of the entire week, topping big names like Malcolm Stewart, Bagget and Anstie in the process.
Will Osborne’s winning pace continue across to two-wheels this weekend? Time will tell, but if his MX career ever stalls Zach could probably do some serious damage in the karting world.
