Popcorn time folks….Round 2 of the world motocross championship was full of talking points. In MX2 it was the huge battle between Tommy Searle, Jeffrey Herlings, Joel Roelants with our other British contingent Max Anstie, Jake Nicholls and EBB hoping to spoil the party.
Watch out for the Teillet crash it was huge.
In the explosive MX1 class it was Tony Cairoli who was looking for more wins, Christophe Pourcel was hoping to hit form and rookie Gautier Paulin was hoping to pull a big surprise – Bulgaria as normal proved to be a great event.
Sunday saw round two of the Motocross World Championships take place at Sevlievo, Bulgaria. A showery Saturday meant a fairly bleak turnout on the viewing banks, but Sunday brought the sunshine and a bustling venue. After some gruelling battles, in the end it was Guatier Paulin who took top spot on the MX1 podium, his first overall victory in Kawasaki colours, and the team's first since 2008. Christophe Pourcel placed 2nd, scoring his first points of the Championship after a dull performance in the Netherlands two weeks ago.
In MX2 it was Brit Tommy Searle who grabbed first despite having an issue with his front brake early on in moto one, causing him a tricky few laps. Knowing that Jeffery Herlings and Joel Roelants were riding strong, he still managed to pull it out the bag and take the win overall. Michael Leib rode Zach Osbourne's factory Yamaha to take 12th overall, an impressive result after a bad first start due to a wrongly selected gear, then didn't make the quickest getaway from the gates in his second. French former European Champion Valentin Teillet also went flying over the handlebars of his Kawasaki in frightening endo style. Luckily he walked away from the incident with just scrapes and bruises.
