On Friday was a lay day at the SWATCH GIRLS PRO FRANCE 2012... but what a lay day it was! Ne'er content to loll about lamenting the lack of surf, captains of swell times at event HQ put on an afternoon of rambunctious water-based fun involving outrigger canoes, paddleboards, aqua fitness, speed and agility. As a relatively rare all day offshore wind ruffled a miniscule groundswell's shimmering ultramarine crests, nine 4 (wo)man teams battled it out for supremacy around two offshore buoys. In the end, team Black Mamba won through and collect a handsome fee of 400 euros for their travails. Also in the final were Swatch Surf Proteam, who tragically peaked too early in the heats, and Adrenaline magazine, who got their just desserts in missing the top spot despite the unsporting addition of a ringer (in the form of the guy who supplied the outriggers) in their crew. Tonight, the fun only but continues! Lee-Ann Curren plays a live set on site, followed by local band The Shinkickers, followed by the infamous iPod battle and it's associated dancefloor shapemaking.
