Footage from the 2009 Megavalanche qualifier group 1000-1200 in Alpe D'Huez, France. I got a fantastic start, had a silly off just before the snow, made back most of the places I lost and then had a major crash running about 30th. The camera did keep filming but the crash knocked the angle so the footage was useless. I ended up qualifying 49th.
The race was on behalf of War Child, we raised over £1600. It's an amazing cause, please take time to read more here if you get chance:
At the time of posting we are still taking contributions:
It would be a dream to reach £2000!!
Photos from the trip also here:
Recorded using a Vholdr ContourHD, edited with iMovie, scaled down to 960x540.
Music by Wim Mertens entitled 'Gimel'. Thought I'd try something other than hip hop or hard rock that permeates most of these films, all feedback welcome! ;-)
If you just want to see the crash, skip right near the end. Was trying to overtake 2 people at once, but the guy in front swerved slightly catching my bars, which flipped around, throwing me into a double somersault unfortunately with my left leg stuck between the forks and the frame!!
Considering the Reunion Isle megavalanche in November and will be back here in 2010 for sure.
