For the first time in Croatia wakeboarding went big time: it was staged in a major city, had Red Bull support (as a 3rd party event) and featured some top performers, including two Red Bull athletes: Denise de Haan and Kinga Horvath. There were competitors in 4 categories (Open Men, Open Women, Women wakeskate and Men Wakeskate) from Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, The Netherlands, Slovakia, Serbia and Italy. Having Zuzana Vrablova from Slovakia as World champion was a great opportunity to prove that girls can be sexy and they can ride wakeskate. She took 1st place landing her first 360 shuv in the competition. The 2nd place went to the Croatian wakeskate champion Nelly Mance and Naja Puhan from Slovenia took the 3rd place.
Kinga Horvath from Hungary had nationals on Saturday, so she arrived quite late on Sunday morning, not having enough time to train. She didn’t have time to adapt to the set up and 2.0 system which definitively affected her run and we didn’t get the run we expected from her, so it put her in 3rd position. Naja Puhan cam in 2nd, behind the former world champion Denise de Haan from Netherlands.
Miroslav Hribik from Slovakia won the Open Men category, ahead of his compatriot Richard Marcincin. Nebojša Simić from Serbia was 3rd.
Men's Wakeskate gold went to Marius Klauenberg from Austria, followed by two Slovakians - Martin Ščambora and Michael Paška. A local Red Bull athlete (MTB freestyle) Mislav Mironović was in the jury.
