The Sea Otter Classic, the biggest and best bike fest of the season, incorporating downhill, dual slalom and a whole host of other riding based madness, such as the all new dirt stunt event.
Regarded by many as the opener to the downhill season, the big names in mountain biking always make an appearance, to weigh up the opposition and test their winter training against their fellow competitors. Steve Peat, Nathan Rennie, Gee and Dan Atherton, and current reigning World Cup Champion Greg Minnaar, all showed up to fight it out in the Downhill.
The full contingent of Yeti racers rocked up for this event, including Ross Milan, Aaron Gwin, Chris Boice, Rich Houseman, Sam Blenkinsop and Justin Leov. Each of these guys tear it up on one of the nicest dual slalom tracks you’ll see, consisting of fast rollers, big berms and loose turns.
Aaron Gwin is new to mountain biking, having raced motocross on the pro circuit. But you’d never know, this guy is making waves and scaring the competition, taking his big bike skills and bossing the mountain bike tracks. Check him out in this vid as he scores a top ten finish, ahead of all other US riders on the day.
