Yeti 2008 World Cup Andorra
World Cup #2 and the Yeti team hit up Vallnord for the Andorran World Cup 2008, scene of the famous Atherton hat-trick.
In this, the second Yeti World Cup vid, check out Ross Milan flowing, pumping and railing his way down Vallnord’s 4X track, while Sam Blenkinsop nails the downhill run as it begins to dawn on him just how much he is capable of. Remember, this is some time before his much talked about win in Schladming, but the potential is clear in this footage, Blenkinsop is good, very good.
The 4X track at Vallnord has some massive jumps in it, none more so than the 40 foot quad that Dan Atherton launched himself over on his way to taking first place. The downhill run is a mixture of fast open turns and tight forest root sections, which combined with the wet weather during qualifying made things pretty tricky, and demanded the most from their Maxxis tyres. Little match for the 303 DH bike, Blenkinsop takes fifth place and gets stoked for the next round at Fort William.
The Yeti boys are no doubt looking forward to returning in 2009, and with race support from Fox, sixsixone and Shimano, this well oiled race team will be hungry for success. With the addition of former motocross rider Aaron Gwin, they will surely be turning heads in 2009.
