Welcome to the Protest East Rookie Fest 2009, the penultimate stop on snowboarding’s World Rookie Tour. Held at the Spindleruv Mlyn resort in the Czech Republic, competition gets intense as riders battle it out for a place at the final in Ischlg, Austria, and the chance to be crowned World Rookie Tour champion. Showcasing the future stars of snowboarding, this contest is increasingly looking like a pro event, as the rookie riders push the limits, laying down some major tricks.
With a perfectly groomed slopestyle course, a massive halfpipe to play in, and support from extreme sports giants Red Bull, young contenders Rudi Oesterhus, Darek Bergmann and Eskii Korneluissen show the world what they can do, mixing it up with big air, big twists and effortless style. Czech riders Martin Mikyska and Diana Augustinova take the grom categories, while Norway’s Eskii Korneluissen, runs away with the male rookie title.
The World Rookie Tour is gaining momentum and demanding attention, as the fight to be crowned World Rookie Champion hots up.
