O'Neill Wake The Line 2012 - Qualifier 02 at OWC

The second Qualifier for “O’Neill Wake The Line 2012″ is over and we congratulate DANIEL GRANT, BRIAN REEDER, ROBERT SICHEL and CODY JOHNSON to their spots at the main event on June 2nd in Cologne/Germany. Young gun Daniel Grant showed some solid riding all day long. With a clean Nosegrab Moby Dick in the finals he took the crown today. Second place got Brian Reeder who is no stranger to rails. He also landed a couple of BS 720s off the new UNIT Parktech Kicker XL. Another big trick off the kicker was a Mute Mobe by Robert Sichel who got third. Last but not least Cody Johnson who barely missed the top four at Hydrous but made it this time. Cody showed his Quarter Pipe skills and did the biggest BS Air on a quarter pipe ever. Thank you to Orlando Watersports Complex, Alliance, our Judges Rob, Brandon and Eric and the whole crew out there. Next WTL Qualifier is in Langenfeld/Germany on May 27th 2012!

The world’s biggest wakeboarding and wakeskating event O’Neill Wake The Line held the Freestyle Wakeboard Worlds and took place at Cologne’s legendary “Stadionbad” outdoor swimming. On June 18th 2011 the planet’s leading wakeboarders and wakeskaters competed at an impressive set-up: with three Olympic-size swimming pools, extraordinary obstacles and a sophisticated two-mast cable lift system, the event came up with the most spectacular freestyle wakeboard setting in the world. In wakeboarding German wonderboy Nico von Lerchenfeld took the victory, upsetting fellow Liquid Force rider Shawn Watson (USA) and Keith Lidberg (USA), who got second and third place. In wakeskating 13-year old Daniel Grant from Thailand amazed everyone when he first hit the course. He turned into the ultimate wakeskating machine and bagged the first place! Second place went to last year’s winner Jan Kissmann (GER), who got followed by Andy Kolb (GER).

From UNIT Parktech AG Cologne/Germany, June 18th 2011 German wonderboy Nico von Lerchenfeld wins in Cologne, upsetting fellow Liquid Force rider Shawn Watson and Keith Lidberg, who got second and third place. Von Lerchenfeld convinced the judges with two runs close to perfection. His first run included a snowboard inspired combo on the first gap, a huge melon air out of the quarterpipe and a switch toeside frontside 900 to top it off. When he hit his own signature obstacle in his second run, he did a perfectly executed backside 270 to switch noseslide and secured the win in this years OʼNeill Wake The Line edition. Shawn Watson proved to be the most consistent rider, laying down top level runs all evening including his signature move, an olé toeside 540. Third place went to Keith Lidberg, who showed excellent riding all evening but couldnʼt maintain the same consistency as his opponents. For the wakeskating part, 13 year old Daniel Grant from Thailand amazed everyone when he first hit the course. He quickly turned from a little Asian kid into an extremely consistent wakeskating machine, putting pressure on big names such as Nick Taylor (USA) and Leo Labadens (FRA). In his final run, Grant exploded and laid down the best line of the day, topping it off with a clean heelside frontside 540.
