About Iballa Ruano Moreno

Spanish windsurfer Iballa Ruano Moreno was born on December 1, 1977 in the Canary Islands. She is twin sister to Daide, who has also had a successful windsurfing career including thirteen Professional Windsurfers Association titles to her name. Together, they are famously known as the Moreno Twins.

Iballa Ruano Moreno was the PWA World Wave Champion in 2006 and 2007. In 2006, she ranked fourth in the PWA World Champion Freestyle. In 2008, she ranked second in the PWA World Tour Wave, fifth in Freestyle, and sixth in Slalom. In 2009, she ranked sixth in the PWA World Tour Freestyle and 2nd in Wave. She also has numerous titles from years 2000 to 2005.

Iballa Ruano Moreno is dedicated to increasing female involvement in the sport and is featured in WindGirls, an on-line site dedicated to female windsurfers. She lists Maui in Hawaii and Pozo in the Canary Islands among her favorite surf spots. She can often be found windsurfing with her teammates Tony Frey, Nina Heiberg, Cecily Kitts, and her sister. Her sponsors include Caja Canarias, Dwarf8, North Windsurf, Roxy Clothing and VW Comerciales. She can speak Spanish, English, and Italian. She also enjoys surfing, bodyboarding, football, volleyball, tennis, and chess.
