About Kai Lenny
Professional windsurfer Kai Lenny was born on October 8, 1992. Kai first learned to windsurf at age six and eventually took up kitesurfing in 2002. His natural talent for watersports has given him the name "Hawaiian Waterman."
Kai Lenny made his windsurfing debut in 2005 when he won the Aloha Wave Classic, Kid Division. Later that year, he won the championship in the Junior Division and Expression Session. In 2004, he took first place in the Naish Supercross Competition and first place again at the Aloha Wave Classic. In 2009, he took eleventh place at the Cabo Verde Wave Competition and was named the Professional Windsurfers Association Rookie of the Year. He attended his first PWA World Cup event in Neusiedler, Austria and took first rank in the freestyle competition.
Kai Lenny continues his windsurfing career and hopes to one day be world champion. Ever the world traveller, he lists Hookipa Beach Park in Maui, Outer Reefs in Australia, and Namotu Lefts in Fiji among his favourite surf locations. His sponsors include First Hawaiian Bank, Naish Sales and Boards, Oxbow, and Red Bull Energy Drink.
