About Ross Williams
Professional windsurfer Ross Williams was born on January 15, 1980 on the Isle of Wight, England. He picked up windsurfing from his father, Ceri, who opened a sport centre in 1984 which is active today. He participated in his first competition at age 9. At 17, Ross decided to dedicate his life and career to windsurfing. His professional career began in 2000.
In 2009, Ross Williams took first place in the Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix held in Sao Paulo. He also took first place in the Dwarf8 Professional Windsurfers Association Surf World Cup in Austria. He also ranked second at the 2009 International Funboard Class Association World Championship. Ross also won the 2008 European Formula Windsurfing Competition at the Allegro Cup held in Poland.
Today, Ross Williams lives in Argentina with his girlfriend. He says his favourite surf spot is Maui. He lists Steve Allen, who has several times been his teammate, Josh Angulo, Nick Dempsey, Kevin Pritchard, and Bryony Shaw among his influences. His sponsors include Cobian Soulwear, Gaastra Racing, O'Neill, Starboard Windsurfing, and Tabou.
