Ride To Glory 2014 - Odyssey
Team Odyssey made it over the pond from California for the 2014 Ride To Glory tour. Their edit, which you can watch here, has some seriously impressive skating from the American lads, so it looks like the British weather didn't get them down too much. There's some unfeasibly effortless looking fence jumping, plenty of massive rail slides, and a fair bit of fraternising with the ladies.
Everyone was pulling out all the stops, making this the best tour since Ride To Glory began in 2008. Competing alongside Odyssey were Hoffman, Wethepeople, DUB, and 2013 winners Premium. Each of the five teams consisted of five members, and all of them were determined to get their hands on the £2,000 in prize money.
The organisers had set a range f wacky challenges, including 'build a DIY spot', 'hop whip in a one-piece', and 'hang out in a one-piece for 24 hours' (not sure what the fascination with one-pieces is all about). Odyssey outdid themselves by clearing eight steps barefoot instead of the required five, and also managed the longest nose manual. Special props should go to Broc Raiford, who not only succeeded in bagging the lowest limbo at 42.5 inches, but also went so far as to get inked with the Ride To Glory logo.
Despite a their best efforts, Odyssey failed to go home with the prize, but based on these solid performances, they could be in with a chance next year. Wethepeople were the ones to beat from the start, and won in the end with the aid of strong support from the public in the video vote.
