“Ride Properly or Get Hit!” – Who’s to Blame for this Crazy Motorcyclist vs. Road Cycling Blowout?

"Police are now looking for the motorcyclist on suspicion of careless driving and public order offences..."

Who needs reality television when you’ve already got YouTube and half the folk who commute to work on a bike everyday have a GoPro strapped on their handlebars?

Everyone loves a bit of drama when they’re not involved themselves, right? Well here’s a banger for you. This cyclist in Reading was almost knocked off his bike by a motorcyclist who overtook him as he exited a roundabout in London on Northumberland Avenue, and one hell of a tussle followed.

Not much happens in the first 20 seconds of the video, but after that it all kicks off, with the bewildered cyclist shouting “F*ck sake” as he struggles to stay on his ride and the motorcyclist coming back down the pavement shortly later to argue his point.

An argument breaks out almost immediately and gets continually heated until the conclusion of the video.

Of course, we should mention that the video is absolutely laced with swearwords, foul language, and worst of all, bad manners. Certain highlights, or rather low-lights, include:

  • The cyclist calling the motorbike rider out for driving down the pavement, to which the motorcyclist replies: “To come to you, you little pr*ck”
  • The motorcyclist following up information about indication with the phrase “I’ve done my f*cking test”
  • The motorcyclist countering a reasonable argument from the cyclist by saying: “Shut up before I knock you out”
  • And the motorcyclist infrequently telling the camera to “f*ck off”, or shouting “f*ck your camera”

We always have time for a video featuring people who get unnecessarily angry at inanimate objects.

Of course, there’s a more serious incident behind the ridiculousness of this video, and police are now looking for the motorcyclist, who was riding a silver Yamaha R6 with the registration W351JBU, possibly because of the more concerning language and threats, the most worrying of which included: “Shut your mouth. F*ck off. You either ride properly or you get hit!”

The cyclist in question, YouTube user ‘uphillfreewheeler’, posted this along with the video:

“The registered owner had recently sold the vehicle and the police would like to speak to this rider on suspicion of careless driving and public order offences.

“If anyone has any information about the rider or the whereabouts of the vehicle please contact Thames Valley Police [on 101] quoting Crime Number 43160223664.”

On a lighter note though, a final shoutout has to go to the cyclist who rode past the POV-rider moments after the incident and offered some words of consolation, but for some reason wasn’t wearing a t-shirt. Because it’s summer right? And we’re all about liberation.

The same YouTube user has previous been involved in a similar incident, where a driver made a tight pass of him on his bike before the driver offered an apology made up of intense verbal abuse, even getting out of his vehicle to chase after the rider.

That video has now been viewed over six million times on YouTube, and resulted in a police caution to the driver involved.
