We’ve all got our favourite mountain bike moments. Whether it’s one of the all time top mountain bike film segments or mountain bike edits, one of the greatest downhill runs of all time or even a mountain bike video that few other people have seen on the internet.
How to measure the greatest mountain bike videos of all time? It’s impossible, of course. It’s completely subjective. What we can rank mountain bike videos by though, is their view count – though of course, this comes with its problems as well.
A list of the most viewed mountain bike videos of all time is certainly not a list of the greatest. You could have one of the most technical, cinematically beautiful mountain bike clips of all time, and maybe only a few thousand people will have viewed it online, whereas if you produce a cool stunt at Red Bull Rampage and it goes viral, you can end up on morning chat shows for the next few months.
When a mountain bike video hits the mainstream public, it normally grows legs of its own as the general citizens of Earth get a rare glimpse of just how badass, raw and terrifying the sport can be. They may not always be the purist’s favourite features, but it’s fair to say that they always make for a damn good watch in one way or another.
So, we decided we would tally up the top 15 most viewed mountain bike video on YouTube – taken from the searches for ‘mountain bike’, ‘mountain bikes’, ‘mountain biker’, ‘mtb’ and ‘mountain biking’ – and see what came out on top.
To be honest, there are some surprising omissions in there though. For example, Danny MacAskill's 46-million view 'Imaginate', or the amazing 36.5-million view 'Way Back Home', don’t actually come up when you type any of the keywords above into the search bar.
So, starting with the 15th, let’s show you the winners for those certain tags. You may notice a bit of a common theme, or a common person of interest anyway, when you get to the bottom of the list.
