The best parkour fails on the web
Parkour fails are a mainstay of the internet at this point. They’re a cornerstone, some would say, of online existence. Parkour fails are something you look forward to when you wake up in the morning; that you can’t help but laugh at while you’re passing time on the bus. And in a way, that’s a great thing for parkour itself.
20 years ago if you asked the question ‘What is parkour?’ not many people would’ve been able to give you an answer. Now people not only know what parkour is, many are even asking instead about the difference between freerunning and parkour, about where they can find the best parkour videos online, how they can get involved in parkour classes and yes, what it looks like when it all goes wrong.
When parkour doesn’t go to plan of course, it also often makes for a rather entertaining watch, in one way or another...
Some of the most viewed footage on the internet is now made up of parkour content; the likes of the real life parkour Assassin’s Creed series, the 72-million view ‘The World's Best Parkour and Freerunning’ video and James Kingston scaling the Wembley Arch - just the tip of the iceberg for parkour in London - to get one hell of a view.
When parkour doesn’t go to plan of course, it also often makes for a rather entertaining watch, in one way or another, mostly because humans are awful people. And we’re presuming that’s why you’re here. Such a physically demanding sport is always bound to carry risks, and when the worst does happen, it isn’t always pretty.
So, here are the 10 worst, or best depending on your view point, parkour fails we've come across on the internet. If you remember that every time you share or watch a piece of parkour content, you further the movement, you can even feel good about yourself while you stare at other’s pain...
1) The Worst Ever Parkour Fail?
This is one of the worst parkour fails out there on the internet. You've probably seen many BMX fails and skateboard fails, but this shows that parkour injuries can be right up there with them. It's actually quite a tough one to watch. Not pleasant at all.
2) The Walls-Crumbling-Around-You Parkour Fail
3) The Doesn’t-Sound-Good Parkour Fail
4) The No-Chance Parkour Fail
We’ve covered this one before, so if you want to more read about the brutal video above which shows what happens when a parkour fail gets horrible, you know where to click.
This is one of the horror stories about parkour – one of the constant fears of the practitioners that do it. You have control over your body and your balance, but not of the structures you take on. If one breaks beneath you like this, it can get pretty damn nasty.
5) The Ground-Beneath-Your-Feet Fail
6) The 3.8 Million-View Face Plant Parkour Fail
7) The Least-He-Tried Parkour Fail
It's a bit of a shame this one, isn't it? Poor kid is just trying to do some parkour and all of a sudden he's racked up 150,000 views on Facebook video entitled 'It's worth sticking with this screamingly low-octane parkour edit right until the end...' - who knows though, it's been a while since that happened. Maybe the dude is a parkour genius now!
8) The Like-A-Boss Parkour Fail
9) The It-Was-Then-That-He-Realised Parkour Fail
10) The Ultimate Parkour Fail Compilation
...and here's the ultimate compilation if you've still not had your fix. It just goes to show - you can practise all you want, buy the parkour shoes, look up the tips on Parkour Generations and Parkour UK, but you simply can't guarantee when you step into the parkour world that you won't end up in a viral fail video. Worth the risk? Hell yeah.
