There’s nothing worse than a distraction in the middle of the road getting in the way of your cycling; a poorly constructed cycle lane, some angry drivers on the way to work, the fact that Justin Bieber doesn't look both ways before crossing the road. You know how it is.
Wait. What do you mean?
That’s right, American-based cycling team Axeon Hagens Berman were out on a training ride in California last week when the man much of the universe loves to hate – at least, err, until they heard his latest album – jumped out on the road and reportedly almost caused the whole team to crash.
The near miss with the Canadian pop sensation took place on the Pacific Coast highway in Malibu, with the 16-rider team travelling at around 40 km/h when Bieber walked out into the middle of the road.
“Is it too late now to say sorry?"
It’s unclear what conversation next transpired between the riders and Bieber, but we can imagine the singer said something along the lines of:
“Is it too late now to say sorry? Cause I’m missing more than just your body. Is it too late now to say sorry? Yeah I know, oh know that I let you down. Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?"
Sorry about that.
Anyway, Sean Weide, media co-ordinator for the team, tells that 21-year-old Colin Joyce recognised Bieber immediately, and the singer then happily posed for a cameo appearance in the most surreal update to ever come from Latvian under-23 champion Krits Nielands’ training regime so far.
