This Colossal Road Cycling Crash Must Be One Of The Craziest Ever
What happens when a cyclist crashes at the front of the peloton? It definitely doesn't end well
Sometimes road cycling tours can make for rather tedious watching. They can be impressive, exciting and intense, yes, but they can also be predictable, uneventful and longer than the waiting list for EPO at Lance Armstrong's local pharmacy.
Sometimes though, there are crashes. And crashes are exciting.
Sometimes, there can even be group crashes, and in the case of stage four at the Australian Tour Down Under last week, this can prove more chaotic than trying to stay away from spoilers when you're catching up on Game of Thrones.
The 'Tour Down Under' must've seemed an apt name for the guy at the bottom of the pile up...
Indeed, watching one man go down at the front of the peloton is like the first time you see a 'trendy' teenager pass with a really shit new haircut. There's no hope for him now - he's fallen - and it's just a matter of time till he brings the rest of the group down with him.
This is one of the most outrageous peloton collapses we've seen, but the best part of it? Definitely the fact that Jérémy Roy somehow made it through untouched - and caught his efforts on a GoPro:
Some effort Jezza, and some watch from the final moments of the Australian event. The 'Tour Down Under' certainly must've seemed like an apt name for the guy at the bottom of the pile up...
