Want To Improve Your Skateboarding? Watch And Learn From June Saito, The Master of Manuals
Must Watch: This dude looks like he's playing Skate 3, but it's real life
Introducing 23 year old June Saito, newly crowned King On The Manual. Granted, King of The Manual is a honour that we’ve just invented, but it’s hard to disagree that this fella deserves the crown and furry robes.
Unless the only interaction you’ve had with skateboarding is via the medium of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, you’ll know that manuals are hard. But not only are they hard, but they look so simple. It’s the worst combination.
But not for Saito. This guy’s not just got them on lock, but mastered them. There’s are 900’s 1080’s, casper slides to nose manuals… at one point we’re sure we even saw a switch nose manual to shuvvit, to nose 360 to casper nose 360, to switch tail, all on one manny pad.
If you’re not sure what all that means, it roughly the equivalent of writing with your bad hand, while balancing on an inflatable gym ball in a shark filled tank while the Archbishop of Canterbury fires frozen peas at you from a sling shot. Or, something. Basically, it’s hard. Really hard. But not fur June Saito.
People are already calling him the new Rodney Mullen, just like people always do whenever somebody is pretty sick at flatground skate tricks. While not wishing to cast any shade on either, we don't think this fella is the next Rodney. He’s the first June Saito, and he’s fucking rad.
