If this video from the University of Miami's Delta Chapter is anything to go by, university life in the States is a far-flung frisbee throw from our own experiences of higher education in Britain.

University in Britain is all about getting shit-faced as often as possible. It's about all-day FIFA sessions, eating beans off mouldy bread, pissing up against a shopping centre at two in the morning, and occasionally showing up for lectures with unwashed hair and a curry-stained hoody.

It's not, as far as we can recall, about wake-boarding behind speedboats, sailing on private yachts with your gal-pals, and inexplicably holding pineapples on the beach (see below).

This overblown sorority recruitment video (see above), from the girls of the Delta Gamma Chapter, has been met with laughter, head-scratching, and wide-eyed confusion by many of the people who've seen it. As you'd expect of course, with content that's as unbelievably silly as this, the internet has had an absolute field day dissecting and discussing it.

Some of the more keen-eyed observers out there have compared it to an equally over-the-top and ridiculous sorority recruitment video released by the University of Alabama's Alpha Phi Chapter in 2015 (see below).

The Alpha Phi's video was criticised at the time "...for being all so racially and aesthetically homogeneous and forced, so hyper-feminine, so reductive and objectifying, so Stepford Wives: College Edition."

In fact, such was the fierce strength of the backlash over it, the college had to release a statement condemning it as "...not reflective of UA's expectations for student organisations to be responsible digital citizens."

Compared to the Delta Gamma Chapter's video however, which let's face it looks like the type of garish music videos hip-hop artists were pumping out in the late-nineties and early-noughties, the Alpha Phi effort is pretty tame. And seriously, what the hell is the pineapple thing all about? Why? Why are there pineapples? Are they meant to be pet pineapples? Is that what's going on here? Is it?! Pet pineapples?! Welcome to 2016.
