This Cave Diver Lost His Footing At The Worst Possible Moment. Here’s What Happened Next...
This explorer definitely just used up at least eight of his nine lives...
Don’t look down. It’s that classic quote deployed by every Hollywood scriptwriter who can’t be bothered to think up something new.
Whether it’s hanging off a helicopter, a cliff-edge, a window ceiling or the edge of a cave, it’s been said by countless household actors who are either past their prime or never really had one to start with, but the video below proves that the overused phrase may hold some practical use – if nothing else – after all.
This budding explorer paid the price for complacency... Although it could have been so much worse
It’s getting into summer now, the snow is disappearing and the sun is finally threatening to come out from behind those clouds – albeit about as quickly as a skateboard goes forward on a treadmill, but it’s still happening, slowly but surely.
This means it’s time for summer sports and the depths of the great outdoors are back on the cards. We’re talking about caves of course! The wonderful unknown blobs dotted throughout planet Earth.
Now, we know you may still be in ski or snowboard mode, but there are a few things you have to think about when you do get your cave on and you’re thinking of making a descent.
For example, the egde of a cave is not like the edge of a line, where you can pole bash the snow to see what lies below. The rocks are sturdy, and they’re slippy as hell too, which brings us back to our original point, it’s probably best that you don’t look down.
This budding explorer ignored that simple rule however, and paid the consequence, although it’s safe to say that this could’ve ended up significantly worse.
The dude goes to look down into the cavern below, takes one step too far, and slips, tumbling head first down into the darkness. Thankfully for him, the guide, and everyone watching at home, he managed to avoid all the jaggy rocks on his way down and landed straight in the water.
He’ll have been thanking his lucky stars that he didn’t end up in a hospital bed.
