“I get knocked down (we’ll be singing). But I get up again (pissing the night away).” If ever the lyrics of a Chumbawamba song could be applied to an Olympic 10,000m, it’s the one that went down in Rio de Janeiro last night. Double gold medal winner from London 2012, Team GB’s Mo Farah recovered from a mid-race tumble to beat Kenya’s Paul Tanui and Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola in a dramatic sprint to the line. Finishing with a time of 27 minutes and five seconds, Farah celebrated with his iconic ‘Mobot’ pose.

For Farah, thoughts now turn  to the defence of his 5,000m title on Wednesday. If he wins gold in that, he’ll be the first Olympian since Finland’s Lasse Viren to retain two Olympic distance titles at back-to-back games. In the meantime, get that man a bowl of Quorn. He’s earned it.
