Danish Travel Company Urges Mums to Book Sex Holidays for Their Sons

It's easy to see why this video has over 4 million views

A Danish travel company has launched a bizarre but brilliant marketing campaign that involves urging mothers to send their sons on sex holidays. Yes, you read that right.

The advert for Spies Rejser encourages mothers to use a new tool on their website which enables them to contribute to the cost of their children’s travel. So far, so innocent. So where does the sex thing come in?

Well, as the video below explains, couples are far more likely to procreate on holiday – and on active holidays in particular. Just in case you weren’t listening to the voiceover, they hammer the point home with a series of hilarious euphemisms. These are like something out of a Carry On film!

And why would Danish mums be so keen on their kids having sex? Well, Denmark is currently suffering from a population crisis with not enough new babies born to support the ageing population.

Danish mothers who want grandchildren therefore (naturally) will want to do everything they can to ensure that the next generation is actually going to exist.

But of course as the video shows: “When it comes to making grandchildren, it might be a bit awkward to help out.” Which means (according to Spies Rejser) that sending your kids on holiday is the best way of ensuring not only that you get to enjoy the experience of having grandchildren, but also ensuring you’re provided for in your old age.

It all makes perfect sense right?

Or maybe not. But even if their logic is slightly strange, you can sort of see what they’re getting at. Sex on the beach and sex in ski resorts are definitely a ‘thing’.

More importanly from Spies Resjer’s point of view, it’s working – the advert has racked up over four million views on Youtube so far.

This isn’t the first time the company has turned the maxim “sex sells” on its head to hilarious effect either. Their last advert also touched on Denmark’s demographic woes, urging people to go on holiday and conceive out of patriotic duty.

That video has racked up over eight million views so far. So whatever you think of the “Do It For Denmark” and “Do It For Mum” campaigns you have to hand it to them, they’re doing their job!
