10 Brands That Have Defined Skateboarding

Skateboarding has progressed thanks to the companies that push it forward

Founded in 1990 by Chris Carter and Mike Hill, Alien Workshop’s initial success was based on its popular tees. However, almost 25 years on it’s still one of the big brand players in the skate game. During the last decade it featured an eclectic team with guys like Jason Dill, Anthony Van Engelen and Dylan Rieder, who represented the modern cool credibility of the brand.

In 2012, Rob Dyrdek bought the company (from Burton Snowboards, who had previously purchased it off Carter) that had first sponsored him, and while there has been a shakeup in the team, the Workshop continues to be one of the brands that define the current era of skateboarding.
