Meet The Guy Who Built His Own Kayak So He Can Take His Dogs On Adventures

David Bahnson's dogs spend their weekend kayaking and windsurfing....

Do you take your dog on your weekend adventures?

Those of us with canine friends are used to setting up a dog bed in the back of the car for long drives to the mountains and finding dog friendly hikes.

68 year old David Bahnson however, has gone a little more extreme in his efforts to include his two pooches in his favorite weekend hobby.

The retired orthopedic surgeon, who previously taught his dogs to windsurf, has done a nifty customisation on his canoe, to hold his two dogs along with himself on his weekend trips.

The idea for the canoe came to Bahnson when he saw that his dogs fitted perfectly in the luggage compartment of the boat.

“Our dogs have always loved to travel with us in cars, in my airplane, in boats,” Bahnson told The Huffington Post.

“Once I taught one of my golden retrievers how to windsurf with me, and she was very good at staying on the board and really seemed to enjoy it.”

“Building a way for them to kayak with us just seemed like a logical choice.”

Apparently the dogs like the boat so much that they hang out all day and don’t bother to even jump in the water for a swim!

The three of them can be seen cruising along the waters of Vermont and enjoying the sights.

Aren’t they just they just the chillest gang on the river?
