It makes sense for the best mountain bikers in the world to live in the mountains, and we’re sure we don’t need to explain exactly why that is – it’s, y’know, in the name of the sport and stuff.
So, it’s interesting to hear what Ontario-born Brett Rheeder has to say about coming back to his hometown, full of flat fields and without a peak in sight.
Of course, the Canadian slopestyle-genius isn’t at a mountain biking loss altogether anytime he heads back to Ontario. Rather the opposite it would seem from this stunning edit he just dropped with Shimano.
The footage shows him jamming on a beautiful dirt course featuring some crazy jumps and features, and it makes for one hell of a watch.
“My home has always been in Ontario,” he tells. “I wanted to tell the story of where I live and where I come from, my whole family lives within 50km of each other in southern Ontario.
“My cousins let me use their farm land to build the course. We hoped the dirt was going to be good, but as soon as we dug into the ground we know it was gold and the best part is it’s only 4kms from my house.
“I know that Ontario is not ideal for mountain biking, but with a little work I feel it can be, and that’s what I wanted to show. For me, This is Home”
