Danny MacAskill is Back | …And He’s Taking On Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa

Watch the most famous trial cyclist in the world take on Kilimanjaro...

Danny MacAskill is no stranger to a challenge. Pretty much every video released by the Scottish trials riding star features Danny taking on a ridiculous new task, whether that be flipping into the ocean in ‘Cascadia’, pulling stunts off Edinburgh Castle in ‘Way Back Home’ or inexplicably front-flipping over a fence in ‘Wee Day Out’.

And now he’s at it again. Danny recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro – the highest peak in Africa at 19,341ft – pushing his bike all the way to the top just so he could ride back down.

Given that many people who attempt to scale Kilimanjaro don’t make it to the top in full hiking gear, due to altitude illness and other issues, it’s one hell of an effort from Danny to get up there with his bike never mind getting back down again.

The full feature, in association with bicycle GPS manufacturer Lezyne, is set to drop in May this year and we can’t wait to see it. For now though have a watch of the footage below. It’s pretty amazing.

Danny isn’t the first person to conquer Kilimanjaro on two wheels though. Seven-time world champion Rebecca Rusch summited with her bicycle last year, riding, carrying and pushing their bikes to the top of the mountain to raise money for new bikes for students in Africa.

It took Rebecca six days to complete the journey, moving at a responsible pace to allow their bodies to get used to the extreme altitude change that takes place in the huge 13,238ft of elevation gain from base to summit.

You can watch an awesome edit of Rebecca’s effort just below from Red Bull, and stay tuned to Mpora for more on Danny MacAskill’s crack at Kilimanjaro.
