Going camping this winter? Then you will need a winter sleeping bag. Summer camping is one thing - the weather is warmer, the days are longer and the ground isn’t quite so hard and cold. Winter camping however is a whole different ball game. You need winter camping equipment to prepare for colder conditions, more nourishing hot camping food and a tactic for preventing your boots freezing overnight.
So what makes winter sleeping bags different from other bags? Well, firstly a winter sleeping bag is much warmer than a summer sleeping bag. Sleeping bags are graded by seasons depending on how much insulation you need. A two-season sleeping bag is good for spring and summer, three-season for autumn and four-season for winter.
The sleeping bags below are some of the best winter sleeping bags in the UK.
SNUGPAK SLEEPER EXPEDITION
The Snugpak Sleeper Expedition is a really reasonably priced four-season winter sleeping bag. It is super soft to the touch and will keep you warm in temperatures as low as -17°C. The siliconised synthetic fibres also add to the lifespan of the sleeping bag, so it will last for many years to come. If you are travelling light, the Sleeper Expedition is great because it packs down into a 33cm x 28cm bag.
