Petzl Actik Core Headtorch | Review
A great headtorch for hikers, mountaineers or trail runners from the people at Petzl
In autumn and winter, when the days are far shorter, having an effective and reliable headtorch with you on your adventures takes on added significance. With that in mind, and with its 350 lumens of power, we reckon the compact and rechargeable Actik Core by Petzl could be the perfect tool for lighting up your upcoming outdoor excursions.
This excellent hybrid headlamp can be charged via a standard USB port, or powered with three AAA batteries. The choice is up to you. Although, from an environmental point of view, shoutout to the rechargeable option as it could save up to 900 batteries from entering the landfill.
“...a light to light your way even when the elements have taken a turn for the the worse."
Lightweight and powerful, just how we like our headtorches, the Petzl Actik Core offers multiple lighting options. The wide beam, for example, is perfect for lighting up your nearby surroundings while the powerful focused beam is brilliant at illuminating distant objects ahead of you. On top of those options there’s the red beam which preserves night vision, and the red strobe that acts as a safety signal.
With its reflective headband and emergency 100 decibel whistle being other standout features of the Actik Core, Petzl have clearly given meaningful consideration to safety with this torch; serving up a product that’ll always have your back no matter the situation.
Used with the Petzl Noctilight (a separate purchase), the Actik Core can even act as a lantern; diffusing light in multiple directions. It’s an ideal option for when at camp, particularly if you’re with other people.
An exceptionally tidy bit of kit that delivers superb watertightness, with this thing in your pack you’re guaranteed to have a light to light your way even when the elements have taken a turn for the the worse.
