While we all know this, no one really considers it properly until the day when you start planning and doing the sums.

For the most part, people take a deep breath, accept the humongous price of getting wed and power on. But not everyone…

Jeremy Garrett  and Rachelle Harrisson added up the pennies, then considered the other things they could spend them on…

They chose to go to Iceland.

Living in an old van, they traveled around the beautiful country, looking for the perfect spot to get married.

With no church, reception or confetti, they tied the knot

After hiking, climbing and cruising around past glaciers, waterfalls and hot springs, they found their perfect spot. The ancient ruins of an old church that survived a volcanic eruption.

With no church, reception or confetti, they tied the knot alone in a place or natural beauty.

The only expense the couple made was to hire the awesome photographer Troy Moth,  to document their amazing time together.

Here’s to doing things our own way, this couple has reminded us what weddings should really be about!
