Climber Attempts to Make First Solo Ascent of Trump Tower With Suction Cups... Gets Stopped by Police
When you watch Mission: Impossible and then get a bit too inspired...
A rogue climber reported to be named Stephen Rogata has gone all-out Mission Impossible and tried to make a first ascent of Trump Tower using suction cups.
The NY Daily News report that Rogata is a climber from Virginia and was said to be carrying banners or some sort of message, presumably political, that he was planning to unveil at some point on the climb.
The climber did himself proud too, starting at 2:45 and pacing well up the tower. It’s said that if he had kept up his pace, he’d have reached the top of the tower by, err, 2am.
Needless to say, the NYPD prevented the amazing feat from being completed, seizing him on the 20th floor and yanking him over a balcony, where an excessive amount of officers were waiting to bring him in.

Still, we appreciate this act of urban parkour and climbing and say kudos to Rogata for attempting the rope-free ascent. Also, it’s pretty funny.
A Trump executive released a statement that followed, saying: “This man performed a ridiculous and dangerous stunt.
“There's damage to the building and he caused the unnecessary deployment of New York's finest to protect his safety and the safety of everyone in the building. He's caused the shutdown of traffic on Fifth Avenue. I'm 100 percent certain the NYPD had better things to do."
