Have you ever contemplated racing the tube? If you’ve ever lived in London, or any city with an underground subway system, you’ve almost certainly been stuck on a sweaty, subterranean tin can, your face deep in somebody else’s armpit, and contemplated whether you’d be better off on foot.

Speedy Spaniard Pepo Jiménez has obviously thought this while commuting around London, and actually decided to put it to the test.
Limbered up on the Circle and District line in the nations capital, Pepo leapt out of the tube train at Mansion House station with a camera on his head, while his mate stood on board the underground carriage and filmed from there.
In a race between man and machine, Pepo hot-footed-it out of the station, down the back streets of central London, 0.1 miles to Cannon Street station. Dodging the crowds of tourists and wankers in suits, he made it back to his pal with the camera on the waiting tube just in time to make it through the sliding doors before the carriage left for the next station.
There is some chatter online suggesting the video is fake, and it’s the work of some sort of digital voodoo. But we’ve watched it a bunch of times now and, call us suckers, we think it’s legit. Maybe we just want to believe, but we’re handing this victory over the machines to humanity.
