Cycle Ball
Cycle Ball
Back to what gullible mugs have been told to call The Beautiful Game, and we find ourselves faced with Cycle Ball.
Cycle Ball is a two-a-side game of football, where competitors ride around on fixed gear bikes with no brakes, and try to put the ball in the competitors net more times than the opposition do it to them.
Players can’t touch the floor with their feet, or it’s a free kick to the other team. Happily, as you can see from the video (1minute 10 seconds in), the equivalent of two-footed tackles still exist appear to be just fine. Spicy.
Chances of taking off: 2/10
In one form or another Cycle Ball has existed since 1893. In that time, both cycling and football have become pretty popular across most of the globe, and Cycle Ball hasn’t really made much of an impact. It’s with a slightly heavy heart we say that we expect it to continue to only exist in the annals of weird sport collections. Shame.
