In news that will delight Star Wars fans everywhere, engineers recently developed this beast of a machine – which reminds us instantly of one the Imperial speeder bikes from the Return of the Jedi.
The team of Hungarian aviation enthusiasts tested the concept vehicle, which they’re calling the Flike, on an airfield in Miskolc for this first manned flight.
In initial tests the 240kg piece of kit managed to takeoff, was manoeuvrable in the air and hovered for almost one and a half minutes before landing safely – a stunning achievement given that the initial sketches were apparently only made a year ago.
Advanced flight computers keep the machine stable and the developers rave that their creation, when it’s fully tested, will be as easy to handle as riding a bike.
They’re looking to launch a commercial variant in the new future and are currently on the hunt for wealthy investors.
