85mph on A Bicycle?!! Here’s the Man-Powered Beast Which Set A New World Record

Here's the two-wheeler which just broke the world-record for the fastest human-powered land speed...

There are few better feelings than powering downhill on your road bike, wind behind you, pushing you on as you fly past hills, hikers, fellow cyclists and all sorts, feeling like there’s nothing in the world that could go faster than you in that moment.

The thing is, often when this happens a car will come past shortly later and bring you right back to Earth. But what if that didn’t have to be the case? What if you could hit 50, 60, 70 miles per hour on your pedal bike and fly past cars going as fast as they possibly can.

The Aerovelo Eta is a man-powered beast which can travel at over 85mph…

Well if you think that’d be awesome, you should take a look below. Created by the people at Aerovelo, the ‘Eta’ just set the world record for the fastest human-powered land speed of all time – by hitting a mind blowing 85mph.

Have a watch for all the details below. The video explores the building and initial construction of the Eta rather than the actual record-breaking, which took place on 17 September, but it gives you a good idea of how the thing works. Things got particularly interesting in testing when the front wheel explodes.
