Watch: Peter Sagan Abandons Bike To Help Alberto Contador After Brutal Crash in Tour de France

Peter Sagan and Mick Rogers frantically help their teammate after a stage 17 disaster...

The Tour de France is a selfless old race at times, especially if you’re in a team with a general classification contender.

Anyone who didn’t know this already can see how blatantly apparent it is from the video below, which shows green jersey king Peter Sagan and Mick Rogers coming to the rescue of Tinkoff-Saxo teammate and leader Alberto Contador after he crashed yesterday during stage 17 of the race.

The crash was missed by the TV cameras, but the aftermath was picked up and uploaded by one fan, and shows Sagan offering Contador his bike while Rogers attempts to fix Contador’s rig.

Eventually Contador gets back on the road on his own bike, though he is said to have later had to swap to Sagan’s bike for part of the descent to the finish line.

Realistically, Contador’s challenge for the Tour de France top spot is now pretty much over, with the stage leaving him a further two minutes and 14 seconds behind Chris Froome, who is still battling off Nairo Quintana amongst others in his bid to keep the yellow jersey.
